Area will be developed into residential/commercial mixed-use space
Songy Highroads (SHR), an Atlanta-based commercial real estate investment and development firm, announced today its purchase of the site housing the Atlanta Food Truck Park in the Collier Village section of Buckhead. The 2.65-acre site, located at the northwest corner of Howell Mill Road and Interstate 75, was acquired by SHR and its partner Healey Weatherholtz Properties (HWP) on Aug. 13.
SHR intends to develop the site for a mixed-use project comprising more than 200 multifamily units, along with retail and hospitality uses. A feasibility study has been completed, and design development and drawings and construction pricing are underway. In the meantime, food truck operations will continue on a temporary basis, at least through the fall months. Anchored by the intersection of Howell Mill and Collier Roads, the Collier Village area is a growing hotspot of retail and hospitality amenities. The addition of new residential units will further complement the bustling neighborhood.
“This might be among the last of Buckhead’s undeveloped mixed-use sites of its size,” said SHR Director of Acquisitions Foster Durkee. “The area is already extremely high-profile, boasting tremendous energy. From a zoning perspective, it offers an ideal opportunity to blend together new residential and commercial real estate.” Healey Weatherholtz Properties, which already owns the majority of nearby Howell Mill retail properties, is a partner in the deal.
“This acquisition represents a major step forward in the evolution of Collier Village and the Upper Westside Community Improvement District,” said HWP Partner Quill O. Healey II. “We’ve been working for 14 years to improve this stretch of Buckhead, and we’re excited to beautify the area with the first-class residential properties that SHR develops.” The Atlanta architectural firm Cooper Carry has also played a key role in the design and permitting of the multifamily phase of the development project.
